Rotterdam hospital criticised in superbug report

Rotterdam’s Maasstad hospital failed to react properly to the outbreak of superbug infections this summer which probably killed three people, according to a report by the government’s health inspectors.

Hospital officials underestimated the size of the Klebsiella outbreak, its seriousness and how long it would last, the report published on Wednesday said.
The bacteria was first identified a year ago but action only taken in May this year. In total 107 patients became infected, the report said.
