Cost of health insurance jumps by €30

Four of the big health insurers are increasing the cost of a basic health insurance package to €108.25, a rise of €30 a year, it was announced on Tuesday.

Agis, Zilveren Kruis, Achmea, VGZ and Univé also said the cost of an additional healthcare package will increase by an average 6%.
In addition, the cost of the standard own-risk will increase by €50 to €220 next year.
‘The basic package has been pillaged and what has been removed now falls under additional healthcare,’ says Erik Hordijk of insurance website verzekeringssite.nl. ‘This makes those items 10% more expensive.’
Items removed from the basic package include dental treatment for 18 to 21-year-olds, contraceptive pills, anti-depressants and a decrease in the number of psychiatric sessions.
Earlier this month health insurer Menzis announced an increase in its basic premium to €106.50.
