Two more FNV unions oppose pension deal

Members of the civil service union Abvakabo and construction workers union Bouw FNV have voted overwhelmingly against the pension reform plan worked out by union chiefs, employers and ministers.

However, the Aob teaching union has voted in favour of the deal, which paves the way for an increase in the retirement age to at least 66 and makes company pensions more dependent on stock exchange developments.
The FNV trade union federation is due to announce on Monday whether or not it still supports the deal, which leader Agnes Jongerius was instrumental in drawing up.
It’s biggest member union, the general workers union Bondgenoten, is also opposed.
