More infections from super bug in Rotterdam

The number of people who have become infected with a super bug at Maasstad hospital in Rotterdam has risen to 98, according to press reports on Wednesday.

Last week the number of infections since the outbreak began in July was 88. All the cases concern patients at the hospital who shared a room with a carrier of the super bug before July 18.
So far, 27 patients have died after becoming infected with the multi-resistant klebsiella bacteria.
The hospital is still looking into the exact role of the bacteria in the deaths and around 1,750 patients and ex-patients have been tested so far.
The outbreak is now under control because there have been no infections in new patients admitted since July 18, says the hospital.
