KNMI issues weather warning for north-east

Weather centre KNMI issued a weather warning on Friday afternoon for the provinces of Gelderland, Overijssel, Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland. It is expecting heavy storms to hit the region, with rain, hail and gusts up to 100 kilometres an hour.


The storms affected the south and west of the country on Friday morning, with the Randstad the worst hit.
Several roads in South Holland were flooded and trains came to a standstill when overhead lines were hit by lightning.
