Foreign minister Uri Rosenthal has summoned the Syrian ambassador to discuss the increasing violence against anti-government protestors.

At least 140 people have been killed in the violence over the past few days.
Rosenthal earlier called for an increase in international pressure on the Syrian regime and wants stronger sanctions.
However, he has no plans to recall the Dutch ambassador, the NRC reports.
