Seven still in hospital following Twente stadium collapse

Seven people remain in hospital on Friday, one with very serious injuries, following the collapse of part of football club FC Twente’s stadium in Enschede on Thursday.

A 31-year-old man was killed when one end of the stadium, which is being expanded to boost capacity, appeared to buckle and then collapse.
Enschede mayor Peter den Oudsten, who has seen video footage of the incident, told a television news show on Thursday evening that it is difficult to say what caused the collapse.
One eyewitness said the roof came down like a pack of cards. Others said a crane raising a support beam may have hit the tribune.
Accident investigators will assess the damage on Friday to see if it is safe for a clean-up operation to begin.
