Second man dies in Twente football stadium collapse

A 24-year-old man has died of injuries sustained in the collapse of part of football club FC Twente’s stadium, the Telegraaf said on Friday afternoon.

The death toll in the disaster has now gone up to two. Six people remain in hospital.
A 31-year-old man was killed outright when one end of the stadium, which is being expanded to boost capacity, appeared to buckle and then collapse.
Enschede mayor Peter den Oudsten, who has seen video footage of the incident, told a television news show on Thursday evening that it is difficult to say what caused the collapse.
One eyewitness said the roof came down like a pack of cards. Others said a crane raising a support beam may have hit the tribune.
Accident investigators are currently trying to establish exactly what happened.
