Extra checks for addiction centres with religious roots

Health inspectors are to carry out more rigorous inspections of addiction treatment clinics based on religious ideas, the Volkskrant reports on Monday.

The clinics, many of which are run by the evangelical Pinkster community, describe themselves as residential communities rather than treatment centres, but still have to meet agreed care standards, the paper says.
This means they must have medical staff and people who are trained to deal with serious psychological problems.
