Some 170,000 chickens have been killed in a major fire at a factory farm in Drenthe. The chickens were housed in two sheds, both of which were completely destroyed in the blaze.

This is at least the second major fire on a poultry farm this year. In May, 20,000 birds perished in a fire near Utrecht. Some 45,000 died in a fire last October.
