Paid parking raises €116m in profit for big city councils

Paid parking generated turnover of €300m for the 10 biggest city councils last year, with net profit reaching €116m, according to research by RTL news.


Amsterdam raised the most – making €83m profit for the city’s coffers on €128m in income. In Rotterdam, Tilburg, Groningen and Nijmegen the earnings were fully re-invested in parking, RTL says.
In total, drivers spent €566m on parking charges last year, up 40% on 2005.
