Charitable gifts top €1.9bn
Dutch households give a total €1.9bn to charity a year, an average of €210 per person, according to research by Amsterdam University.
Wealthy people give just under €1,000 a year to good causes. Donations of more than €5,000 are rare in the Netherlands, researcher René Bekkers told news agency ANP.
