Rabobank worried about gas drilling

Boxtel council has received a number of complaints after granting permission to Brabant Resources to test drill for shale gas. Among the complainants is the Rabobank.

Shale gas is natural gas contained in the shale layer around four kilometres underground. The drilling method, known as fracking and considered controversial, involves high-pressure water creating slits in the shale through which the gas can be extracted.
Rabobank, which has built a new data centre in Boxtel, has asked the council to clarify the risks of this operation, the Telegraaf reports. The bank is not against the drilling per se, but wants to know what the consequences may be.
