More medals at speed skating world championships

The Netherlands added another slew of medals to its haul at the world speed skating championships in Germany at the weekend.

Bob de Jong took gold in the 10 kilometres and the five kilometres events with team mate Bob de Vries taking silver in the 10 kilometre event.
In the 1,000 metres for men, Shani Davis of the US took gold with Kjeld Nuis and Stefan Groothuis of the Netherlands taking silver and bronze.
Ireen Wüst narrowly missed out on a hat trick, taking silver in the 1,000 metres. Wüst had already taken the women’s 3,000 and 1,500 metre titles.
In the team pursuit, the Dutch women took silver, behind Canada. In the men’s event, the Dutch team – the traditional winner of this event – was third behind the US and Canada.
