Higher sentences for drugs and drink-related crime
The government is planning to increase the maximum sentences for people convicted of violent crime while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In addition, judges may also order them to stop drinking or ban them from certain places, justice minister Ivo Opstelten told MPs on Friday.
Alcohol and drugs are involved in almost one third of violent crime.
