At transfer deadline: Van der Meulen to Dundee Utd

With the winter football transfer season now over, Ajax defender Timothy van der Meulen is heading to Scottish club Dundee United on a short trial contract until the end of the current season.

But Ajax failed to prise striker Bas Dost away from Heerenveen to help make up for the loss of Luis Suarez . Despite the involvement of football association arbitrators, Ajax refused to pay the €5.25m the Friesian club was demanding.
Dost, 21, has a difficult relationship with coach Ron Jans and has spent much of this season on the bench. He moved to the club from Heracles for €3m.
Ajax striker Darko Bodul is also moving on – to Portugese club Desportivo Nacional Madeira.
In Rotterdam, financially-troubled Feyenoord has reached a deal in principle to sell Luc Castaignos to Inter at the end of the season, the Telegraaf reports.
The club has also brought in three players: Marcel Meeuwis on loan from Borussia Munchengladbach, Ryo Miyaichi, an 18-year-old Japanese player currently with Arsenal, and Kostas Lamprou, a Greek national who was on loan to Exelsior.
