High speed train collides with freight train, no injuries

An international passenger train en route for Germany collided with an empty freight train near Zevenaar in the east of the country shortly after midday on Tuesday.

The train was travelling to Germany with 146 passengers on board when the accident happened. There are no reports so far of any injuries.

Both the main railway line to Germany and the Betuwe freight-only line have been closed and train users are warned to expect delays.
