New mobile frequencies to be auctioned

There will be a new mobile phone frequency auction by early 2012 at the latest, economic affairs minister Maxime Verhagen said in a statement on Friday.


The auction will cover existing frequencies owned by KPN, T-Mobile and Vodafone plus new ones in the 800MHz bandwidth.
‘These measures give companies maximum clarity and investment security for the next few years,’ Verhagen said. ‘Consumers can count on sufficient competition and new services.
