Wikileaks memo confirms US nuclear weapons are in Holland

A memo from the US ambassador to Germany which has been placed online by Wikileaks appears to confirm that US nuclear weapons are kept on Dutch soil.

In a discussion about the withdrawal of US weapons from Europe, the memo states: ‘a withdrawal of nuclear weapons from Germany and perhaps from Belgium and the Netherlands could make it very difficult politically for Turkey to maintain its own stockpile.’
It was written by US ambassador Philip Murphy in November 2009.
The government has never confirmed that nuclear weapons are kept on Dutch soil.
Socialist Party MP Harry van Bommel called on the government to now stop being so secretive and admit to their presence.
According to the Volkskrant, Wikileaks has 3,021 memos sent by the US embassy in The Hague but these have not yet been published.
