Pensioners warn their spending power is being hit

Increases in healthcare fees and new tax rules will hit pensioners’ spending power hard next year, organisations for the elderly said on Thursday.

The government’s macro economic planning office CPB says spending power will shrink by 0.25% on average in 2011.
But pensioners who need special care and have very low incomes will be much harder hit, the organisations say. Healthcare fees are set to rise an average of 10%.
