Few civil servants corrupt

Just 87 civil servants were investigated for corruption between 2003 and 2007, according to a new public prosecution department report.

This means just one in 19,000 civil servants was suspected of being corrupt, the report said.
Nevertheless, the researchers warn against overconfidence. ‘It is not exactly likely that all cases are known,’ the researchers said.
Most cases involved civil servants working in the property and building sectors, a sector which is known to be particularly vulnerable to corruption.
