Students urged to have a vaccination against mumps

Students who were not vaccinated against mumps (parotitis epidemica) as a child are being urged to get a vaccination now because there is a small epidemic in a number of student cities, the RIVM public health institute said on Tuesday.


Mumps is passed on by coughing, sneezing and saliva and although not usually dangerous can lead to complications such as deafness and sterility.
