Storms bring down trees, cause flooding

Sunday’s heavy winds and rain led to hundreds of reports of damage, with localised flooding and trees blown down over all over the country.

In the Gelderland village of Leuth, the roof was blown off a row of terraced houses. Near Zwolle, winds of up to 100 kph destroyed a farmhouse. One report says over 700 insurance claims have been made so far.
The rain was particularly heavy in central and southeastern parts of the country. According to the Telegraaf, up to 35 mm fell.
The heavy showers are forecast to continue on Monday but lessen towards evening. The wind, which is gale force at times on the coast, will also die down.
