Pension funds sink below official asset limit

The health service pension fund PGGM and two engineering funds have seen their coverage ratio again fall under the required 105%, Nos tv said on Thursday.

The health service fund has slipped to 99%, Metaal en Techniek to 91% and Metalektro to 93%, meaning they don’t have enough assets to meet all their commitments.
Last week, civil service pension fund ABP, one of the biggest pension funds in the world, said its coverage ratio had fallen to 95%.
Low interest rates and concerns about economic developments have hit the funds’ investments.
