Accountancy groups merge to create national giant

Accountancy groups Gibo and Flynth plan to merge, creating a national giant with 80 branches and turnover of €180m, both firms said in a press release on Wednesday.

If the merger goes ahead on January 1, 2011, the new firm will be the biggest national provider of accountancy and advisory services to the small and medium-sized business sector, the statement says.
Together the two groups have a workforce of 2,300 and some 35,000 clients.
‘We want to be the alternative to the big accountancy practices,’ said Flynth director Ruud Pondman in the Financieele Dagblad.
The big four Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PwC and KPMG, each with over 4,000 employees, have dominated a large part of the Dutch market for years.
