The Netherlands has over 121,000 millionaires

Despite the recession, the number of millionaires in the Netherlands went up almost 15% last year to 121,700, according to the 2010 World Wealth Report drawn up by Merill Lynch and Capgemini, quoted by Nos tv.

The new millionaires are people who had assets and have benefited from rising share prices or who invested in renting out property, the report says.
But 14 people in the Netherlands became millionaires last year because they won the lottery, Nos tv points out.
The report defines a millionaire as having ‘$1 million or more, excluding primary residence, collectibles, consumables, and consumer durables’.
