AkzoNobel sells National Starch for $1.3bn

AkzoNobel is selling its National Starch unit to America’s Corn Products International for $1.3bn, the paint and chemicals company said on Monday.


National Starch has been for sale since Akzo Nobel bought ICI in 2008.
‘This transaction today marks the strong focus on our core business and confirms AkzoNobel’s transformation into the world’s largest global coatings and specialty chemicals company,’ said AkzoNobel CEO Hans Wijers in a statement.
