Mobile phone call costs in Holland are high: EU report

The average cost of making a mobile phone call in the Netherlands is 20 cents a minute, making the country the third most expensive in the EU, according to an EU commission report.

In Malta, the average cost of a minute call is 24 cents and in Luxemburg 21 cents, the report, drawn up on behalf of telecoms commissioner Neelie Kroes shows.
Latvia is the cheapest place to use a mobile phone, with average tariffs of 4 cents.
‘The limited progress towards a true single market is disappointing,’ Kroes said in a statement. ‘Member states need to do more to ensure telecoms rules are properly implemented and the necessary investments in innovative services made for the benefit of all 500 million European consumers.’
The report also shows the Netherlands and Denmark are ‘world leaders’ in terms of fast internet with almost 40% of households having broadband access.
