Almere mayor and former cabinet minister Annemarie Jorritsma has put herself forward as a candidate for Amsterdam mayor, sources have told local broadcaster AT5.

Labour’s former integration minister Eberhard van der Laan and former city council executive Rob Oudkerk are also on the nomination list.
The mayoral appointment is technically made by the crown, but the city council can make recommendations.
