VVD in second place in latest poll

The Liberal party VVD has moved into second place in the latest Maurice de Hond opinion poll ahead of the June 9 general election.

The poll puts the VVD on 25 seats, up two on a week ago, placing the party ahead of the Christian Democrats with 24 and Geert Wilders’ PVV, which is down two seats on 22.
Labour is still by far the biggest party with 34 out of 150 seats in parliament, up one on last week’s total.
De Hond’s research shows that half of VVD voters who switched to the PVV have now gone back to the Liberals.
The PVV has also been hurt by the party’s non-inclusion in the local government executives in Almere and The Hague, De Hond says. The poll shows 25% of PVV voters believe the party itself is partly to blame.
