Small profit for satnav maker TomTom

Satellite navigation system maker TomTom booked net profit of €3.1m in the first three months of this year, compared with a loss of nearly €37m in the year-earlier period.

The rise in earnings was due to a 26% increase in sales at €268m.
In total, TomTom sold 1.6 million portable navigation systems, up 15% on a year ago.
TomTom reiterated it expected this year’s revenue and earnings per share to be in line with 2009, when sales reached €1.5bn.
