Police killer appeal: court upholds 12 year sentence

Amsterdam appeal court has confirmed a sentence of 12 years in jail and psychiatric prison for the man who shot dead a 28-year-old off-duty police woman in 2008

The public prosecution department had called for a 15-year sentence.
The court agreed that while Franklin F was drunk, there was no evidence he was aware he had shot at a police woman.
Policewoman Gabrielle Cervat was on her way to work a night shift when she saw a car driving erratically. She followed the car and wanted to speak to the driver when he parked, but he shot her at point blank range.
