Last week, D66 pulled out of the coalition talks after Labour leader Lodewijk Asscher was appointed acting mayor to replace Job Cohen.
Former integration minister Eberhard van der Laan, tipped as a possible candidate to succeed Cohen, is currently brokering the talks.
‘The PvdA and D66 will form the axis of the new coalition,’ said Labour negotiator Carolien Gehrels. ‘The axis was broken but has been repaired.’
