Justice ministry silent on designer arrest

The public prosecution department is still refusing to comment on reports that interior designer Jan des Bouvrie has been arrested in connection with a tax fraud case, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Wednesday afternoon.

Bouvrie was picked up on Monday and his home in Naarden searched by specialist fraud investigators, the Telegraaf reported on Wednesday morning.
The fraud centres on property development firm Kroon Group, whose director Evert Kroon has also been arrested on suspicion of tax fraud, the FD says. Another Kroon Group worker is also in custody.
A spokesman for the Kroon Group said the company regretted that its ‘good friend and business colleague’ had become involved in the case. It is unclear what role Des Bouvrie is supposed to have played.
The FD says the case centres on bills for work on private property passed off as belonging to the Kroon group. The deception has cost the tax office €1.5m, the paper says.
