Escaped armed robber faces terror charges

Convicted armed robber Eric Jan Q, who escaped from jail in 2001 and was recaptured on 2007, is facing new charges of preparing to cause explosions, according to various media reports on Monday.

The 36-year-old, given a 14-year jail term for two violent robberies in the late 1990s, is now suspected of planning to blow up targets in Rotterdam, the Telegraaf reports.
Maps, photographs and chemicals to make explosives were found in a hiding place in the woods near Arnhem, thought to have been use by Q while he was on the run, the paper said.
According to Nos tv, the hiding place also contained a list with names of justice ministry and court staff.
Q is known to have connections in extreme right-wing circles. The new case against Q is being heard on Monday and Tuesday in the Hague.
