British crooks feature on Dutch wanted site

The names and photographs of six British men wanted in connection with crimes in their home country have been added to Amsterdam police’s most wanted website, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

The six are wanted for a variety of crimes, including drugs dealing, armed robbery and rape and range in age from 27 to 67.
‘We want to make it clear to British criminals that they are not welcome in Amsterdam,’ local police chief Liesbeth Huyzer told the paper.
Amsterdam is an attractive base for wanted men because English is widely spoken and they can easily blend in with tourists. Amsterdam’s good transport connections and its proximity to Schiphol airport are also a plus, Huyzer said.
The publication of the photographs is part of a joint British and Dutch police initiative known as Operation Return. Over the past 18 months, 25 wanted British criminals have been arrested in and around the capital, the Telegraaf reported.
