Stop Wilders.nu party banned in the Hague

The Hague city council has banned a political party from adopting the name Stop Wilders.nu because it implies a threat against the MP, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

The party hoped to contest the local elections in March in the Hague, one of two cities where Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam party PVV is also taking part.
The council said it would refuse to include the party name in the election list because it is ‘personally directed at Wilders and has threatening associations’. Wilders is under permanent police protection because of threats against his life.
The party, led by former tv presentor Frans Schulte, is to appeal to the council of state against the decision.
