Thursday 17 December 2009

A further 9,000 people lost their jobs between October and November this year, taking the jobless total to 412,000 or 5.2% of the population, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.

The number of people officially unemployed has gone up 121,000 over the past year, the CBS said.

Nevertheless, the Netherlands still has the lowest unemployment rate in Europe, according to figures from the EU statistics office Eurostat.
