Rinnooy Kan remains ‘most influential’

Alexander Rinnooy Kan, chairman of the government’s SER advisory body, is the most influential Dutch person in the Volkskrant’s ranking for the third year in a row.

Rinnooy Kan, 60, chairs the body made up of union and employer representatives, which earlier this year failed to come up with an alternative suggestion to the planned pension age increase.
Bernard Wientjes, the chairman of the employers organisation VNO-NCW, is in second place with Philips boss Gerard Kleisterlee in third place. The highest ranked woman is Agnes Jongerius, head of the FNV trade union federation, who drops from sixth place to seventh.
The number of women in the Top 200 rose slightly to 38. The average age on the list is over 59 – with former VVD party leader and European commissioner Frits Bolkestein the oldest at 76.
