‘Lessons on homosexuality needed for all’

Orthodox Christian and Muslim schools should be required to teach their pupils about sex and homosexuality, D66 MP Bors van der Ham says in an interview with website nu.nl.

‘At the moment, this issue is dealt with in the core learning targets in a very perfunctory way,’ Van der Ham said. ‘This allows schools to get out of their obligations.’
Information about homosexuality is vital to combat intolerance towards gays and lesbians, he said. ‘A too-large group of youngsters get a homophobic message from home.’
Van der Ham will raise his proposal during a debate on the issue in parliament on Thursday, nu.nl says.
