‘Killer nurse’ retrial set for March

The retrial of nurse Lucia de Berk, found guilty of killing a number of seriously ill children and pensioners, will probably take place on March 17, court officials and the public prosecution department said on Wednesday.

De Berk was jailed for life in 2006 but the case against her has since collapsed. Research shows the only two victims who ever underwent post mortem investigations may have died of natural causes and the statistical case against her has been disputed by experts.
The retrial is expected to last one day.
De Berk, found guilty of murdering seven patients and attempting to murder three more, was freed from jail in 2008 pending an official investigation into her case.
