Swine flu death toll total reaches 22

The number of people killed by swine flu in the Netherlands rose by five to 22 last week, says the public health institute RIVM.

Nearly all of those to die so far had underlying health problems, the RIVM said.
A further 291 people were hospitalised last week, bringing the total to 909 up to November 11. Some 60% of patients have other health conditions as well as the flu virus.
The family doctors’ association said on Friday it appears around 80% of the people eligible for the first of two anti-H1N1 vaccinations are turning up at surgeries to be vaccinated.
