Police fail to spot dead pensioner

Police searching for a missing elderly woman in Amsterdam earlier this month failed to find her body during an initial search of the house, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

Police broke into the woman’s home on the Kerkstraat after the 85-year-old had been reported missing but found no trace of her.
Police found her body under her bed during a second search the next day. They were alerted by the smell, the paper said.
The woman died of natural causes and may have hidden under her bed by instinct when she felt she was going to die, a doctor told the paper.
