The Silent Army rejected by Oscar committee

The film The Silent Army, about child soldiers in Africa and starring singer Marco Borsato, has been rejected as the Dutch entry for this year’s Oscar awards.

The film is a re-edit of Wit Licht and that is against the Oscar rules, the Volkskrant reports on Wednesday.
The Netherlands is now submitting Oorlogswinter, about a boy who hides an English pilot during World War II, for the best foreign language film section.
Holland Film, the organisation which promotes the Dutch film industry, was warned that it might face problems with The Silent Army, the paper says.
