Public sector salary law sent out for advice

Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst has sent new draft legislation to limit public sector salaries out for consultation, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Tuesday.

The new law sets a ceiling of €181,773 on the salaries of senior staff at public sector organisations, including housing corporations, broadcasters and water boards.
MPs are keen for public sector salaries to be kept below the level of the prime minister, the so-called Balkenende norm.
Hospital and other healthcare sector chiefs will fall under a different ‘reward system’, the paper says.
