Civil servants face pay freeze
Friday 09 October 2009
Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst is to press for a police and civil service pay freeze in 2011, the Volkskrant reports on Friday.
And Ter Horst is urging other people working in the public sector, such as the armed forces, teaching hospitals, local authorities and education to agree to a pay freeze as well, the paper says.
Ter Horst is only directly involved in negotiating the police and national government civil service pay deals. The current agreements expire next year.
Trade unions have not yet published their pay demand guidelines, pending the outcome of the cabinet plans to increase the state pension age from 65 to 67.
