Ad spending down 15% in first half

The credit crisis continues to have a deep impact on the advertising market in the Netherlands and is now also affecting internet commercials as well as advertising in the printed media, television and radio, reports the Volkskrant on Friday.

Advertising budgets fell just over 15% in the first half of this year compared to the same 2008 period, according to figures from market research firm Nielsen. The forecast for the whole year is a 13.7% drop in advertising income for the media, says Nielsen.
