A 14-year-old girl who was ‘apparently otherwise healthy’ has become the sixth person to die of swine flu (H1N1) in the Netherlands, officials said on Friday.

A 40-year-old man, who had been seriously ill for some time, has also died, the health institute RIVM said. These two latest cases bring the death toll from swine flu in the Netherlands to six.
‘As with ordinary flu, deaths can happen,’ a spokesman was reported as saying by the Telegraaf.
Light epidemic
The Netherlands is in the grip of a ‘light’ swine flu epidemic, the RIVM said. This week, 10 people a day have been admitted to hospital with the virus. Of them, 61% had other health conditions.
An outbreak becomes an epidemic when more than 55 out of every 100,000 residents have the disease in question. For the past two weeks, doctors have reported 69 cases per 100,000, the RIVM said.
The Netherlands is set to begin vaccinating people against swine flu in November.
