Many early retirees are still working

One in four people who have taken early retirement still have a part-time job, often with their original employer, according to research by the work and income council RWI quoted in the Telegraaf.

And one in 10 of those who have retired early would like to work again, the RWI report said. The older early retirees are, the less likely they are to have an additional job.
Corporate early retirement schemes are known as the VUT.
The report points out that many people who take early retirement do so because of a company reorganisation and would like to keep on working.
And, it says, many do continue working for their former employer, usually as freelancers on specific projects.
Only one in seven of the over-60s in the Netherlands is still in work and the government is looking at ways to stimulate more people to work up to the official state retirement age. That is currently 65 but the government wants to increase it gradually to 67.
