SNS Reaal books €30m loss in H1
Tuesday 18 August 2009
Financial services group SNS Reaal booked a loss of €30m in the first six months of this year, largely due to write-offs on its property portfolio.
Analysts had expected a slight profit, the Financieele Dagblad reports.
The bank. which booked a €730m loss in the second half of last year, has had a €750m capital injection from the government to bail it out of trouble.
SNS could not say when it would begin repayments.
ING and Aegon, which have also had government cash, have already begun moves to pay back the cash.

This bank will probably flop soon. My husband just switched to ING because SNS is useless now! You can't ever see a real person, you can't transfer money from one account to the other except online, you can't bring money to deposit either! ING promises to never take that away so he switched. What kind of bank takes away the means for you to put money in it?! What about the elderly who don't use the Internet? I walked in with 800+ Euro at SNS to put in my husband's account but I don't have the online banking because I have no use for it and they charge for it... they said they can't take the money! INSANE!
I American so I guess I expect some level of decent service but this is appalling. I also have to pay a monthly fee to use an ATM card and I can ONLY use SNS bank ATMs with it!
When my husband got the papers from them (in person, I'm shocked) to switch they said loads more are leaving for the same reasons. Take note SNS! You can't alienate your customers or you will lose in the end!!!
